Founder & President, F*** Cancer
Yael Cohen is the Founder & President of F**K Cancer; a charity that she started in 2009 when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Astounded to learn that over 90% of cancers are curable in stage one, Yael realized that early detection is the only cure right now and that we should be looking for cancer instead of just finding it.
A Gen Y herself, runs the successful charity – F**k Cancer. She targets Gen Y (17-35 years old) because today, kids affect their parents more than any generation ever has. With the exponential growth in technology and education, Gen Y has taken responsibility for teaching their parents how to shop online, program their PVR’s and lower their cholesterol; so they might as well teach them something that can save their lives.
Part of the reason why her charity has been so successful is that she directly targets people’s apathy by shaking them out of complacency with humor and language. Yael is from Vancouver and most recently spoke at TEDxVancouver.
