Designer and Developer at Crohnology
Sean Ahrens is a patient hacktivist. He’s a software developer who has turned his skills for good, to democratize medicine by directly connecting patients.
He studied Computer Science at UC Berkeley, and is a Y-Combinator and Rock Health alum.
As a patient with Crohn’s himself, in 2011 he founded Crohnology, a patient-to-patient data sharing network that has now connected nearly 3000 people with Crohn’s and Colitis around the globe.
Crohnology has been featured in presentations by Dr. Eric Topol and Larry Smarr, and has already created findings that stand to contradict conventional medical wisdom about which treatments work.
