FutureMed Participant FAQs

What are the dates for FutureMed 2013?
FutureMed will take place November 3-6, 2013. Registration will be early afternoon on Sunday, November 3, 2013 followed by orientation and opening sessions.

Where will November’s FutureMed be held?
FutureMed is being held at the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, CA.

Who are the FutureMed faculty?
Please click here to see the past FutureMed faculty- check back for updates.

Is there a deadline for applying for a program?
We don’t have formal deadlines for when you need to apply, but as there are many more applicants than participant spots- the earlier the better.   All previous FutureMeds sold out, and we anticipate we will be out of participant spots long before November.

Are scholarships or discounts available for FutureMed?
We will have a few Academic Discounts and Student Scholarships, but please expect a lot of competition for these few spots. Singularity University does have many more scholarships for the 10-week Graduate Studies Program. All proceeds from FutureMed go to fund scholarships for the Singularity University 10-week Graduate Studies Program.

Are accommodations provided in the program fee?
No, the program fee does not include accommodations at the Hotel Del Coronado. There is a group special rate, until sold out.

How can I pay for the FutureMed registration?
You can pay by bank wire transfer, credit card, or check.  Admitted participants will receive a final registration link.

What is the closest airport to Singularity University?
San Diego International Airport is the closest airport (SAN).

Does Singularity University arrange transportation from the airport?
No, we do not arrange transportation to or from the local airports.

What is the dress code for the programs?
Business casual is recommended. For women or men, this is a dress shirt and jeans or a skirt, no tie necessary. The program will have optional exercise activities so it’s a good idea to bring relaxed exercise clothes as well.

What is a typical FutureMed day?
We start with breakfast by 8am (optional work out, Yoga or other wellness activity before), followed by a packed day of presentations, demos, networking, workshops & events. The organized part of the day ends around 10pm, after which many participants socialize in self organized groups.

Can I present my research, technology, company or ideas at FutureMed?
One of the special aspects of FutureMed is the incredible mix of talented, accomplished and forward thinking fellow participants.  There will be an ‘Unconference’ session at FutureMed, where participants can present topics and ideas of their choice to fellow participants and FutureMed faculty.  There will be daily demo sessions, which are additional opportunities to formally present and display hands-on technology you may be involved with.
